WHY 600 KILOMETRES?

The premise behind the PWU Reconciliation Honour Walk is to have all participants walk a cumulative total of 600 kilometres, the amount of kilometre’s Chanie Wenjack endeavoured to complete when he escaped from the Cecilia Jeffrey Residential School. Chanie was only 12 years old when he ran away, wearing only a light windbreaker and heartbreakingly succumbed to the harsh elements on his way home.
